Lit Circle Letter #1

What I would like to discuss is about the Main Character, Lucy and the first impression of her when you first started reading it. Did you get the wrong impression from the beginning and started to like her character more after getting further into the book? When I first started to read this character had honestly scared me, with her love for vampires and Gothic image, but then finding out she had diabetes and the struggles she was put through, completely turned the book around and made it hard for me to put the book down. It made the storyline much more interesting, especially as her struggles get worse, and she has to fight for her life. In some ways you could relate to her and realize that her outside image isn't the same as how she is on the inside and definitely refers to the phrase "Don't judge a book by it's cover".
It made me find that diabeties is such a serouis issue, before I was clueless about it and didn't know that people have struggles with it nor did I know how insulin is a very important intake or you could die instantly. Its very life threatning and scary, I wouldn't be able to live with diabeities and its is especially important to watch how much you eat 24/7. To my fellow partners I was wondering how you guys felt about the chartecters stuggle with diabeities and how your reaction would be if you had to deal with it.
In conclusion, I hope to read more and get further into the book soon, It's getting very intresting and I hope she doesn't die. She has came close into many cases where she into near death. She has a very loving family that cares for her but she does not enjoy being them around. She is almost like the odd ball, wearing all black and everything and the only one in her family to deal with diabeities.
